A dual citizen of Italy and Ethiopia, Tsegereda Tsegaye Wigebral, who falsely claimed her family faced persecution, has received a chance to remain in Canada after an immigration officer overlooked key evidence from her son, Nobel, regarding their potential mistreatment in Italy. The Federal Court ruled the officer’s decision lacked fairness and ordered a re-evaluation of the family’s pre-removal risk assessment application.

Explain It To Me Like I’m 5: A family from Italy and Ethiopia, who previously misrepresented their refugee status in Canada, has been granted another opportunity to remain in the country after a court found that their case had not been fully considered by immigration officials.
