SINGAPORE: A former police officer, Koh Kian Tiong, was sentenced to nine years in prison for accepting bribes totaling S$47,700 from an illegal gambling operator between 2006 and 2007. Koh fled to China for nearly 17 years before being caught and repatriated to Singapore in April 2024 after serving a sentence for unrelated crimes. He was convicted of multiple corruption charges and desertion from the police force, with his accomplice previously sentenced for similar offences.
