Tran concealed income and rent earnings from the IRS, resulting in a $25,000 payment to the Department of Unemployment Assistance and a $23,000 payment to the IRS, along with a $7,500 fine. Tran, the first Vietnamese American elected to state office in Massachusetts, previously faced an ethics investigation in 2020 for campaign work during Senate hours and unsuccessfully challenged Democratic U.S. Rep.
