A new study reveals that the 50 most concerning pieces of space debris in low-Earth orbit are predominantly relics over 25 years old, mostly dead rocket bodies, with 76% of these objects from before 2000. These items pose a significant risk for collisions, potentially generating more debris, as they orbit Earth at nearly 5 miles per second between 700 and 1,000 kilometers above the surface.
