UN envoy says creating an inclusive Syrian government could help lift sanctions

In Syria, the formation of an inclusive government by March will be crucial in determining whether Western sanctions will be lifted post-Assad’s ouster, according to U.N. special envoy Geir Pedersen. The interim administration, led by former rebel group HTS, aims to include all Syrians in the political process, with a national dialogue conference planned. Concerns also remain about security, including Israeli incursions into Syrian territory, with Pedersen urging for a withdrawal to address the situation.
