Six EMPD constables from the drug unit faced charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, extortion, and obstructing justice in court after allegedly confiscating money from a Congolese national and searching his home without a warrant. The officers reportedly forced the victim to take them to his house, where they took R120 000 in cash before releasing him without charges. Following a preliminary investigation by Boksburg North SAPS, the matter was referred to IPID, leading to the six constables being charged and arrested.
