Social media company X has agreed to pay approximately $10 million to settle a lawsuit by President Donald Trump, who accused X, formerly Twitter, and its CEO Jack Dorsey of violating his First Amendment right by deplatforming him after the Capitol riot. Trump, who had put X’s owner Elon Musk in charge of government cost-cutting, reached the settlement after waiting over a year for the outcome of an appeal that was dismissed by a federal judge in 2022. The 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals granted a motion to dismiss the appeal on Monday, ending the legal battle between Trump and X.
