Elon Musk’s AI Wikipedia project has not been updated in months

xAI’s Grokipedia, an AI-driven online encyclopedia touted by Elon Musk as a significant improvement over Wikipedia, has reportedly not seen updates since April 24th. Launched in October 2025 with 885,000 articles, Grokipedia has expanded to over 6 million entries by its second version release in November 2025. However, its “Recent changes” section currently shows no live edits. Users can still suggest new articles and edits, but an analysis of 34,519 pages revealed that no suggested edits have been accepted or rejected in the past three months. xAI has not responded to inquiries about the platform’s status, leading some users to question whether Grokipedia is effectively inactive, especially since Musk’s last mention of the project on social media was in February.

Why It Matters

The lack of updates on Grokipedia raises concerns about the platform’s viability and effectiveness, particularly given the strong expectations set by its launch. Wikipedia has long dominated the online encyclopedia space, and Grokipedia was positioned as a competitor leveraging AI technology. However, the apparent stagnation in content updates undermines its credibility and raises questions about the sustainability of AI-driven information sources. The situation highlights the challenges faced by new digital projects in maintaining user engagement and content currency in the competitive landscape of online knowledge sharing.
