Elle King posted on Instagram on Sunday about her performance at a Dolly Parton tribute in January. She struggled on stage, slurring words, forgetting lyrics, and using profanity, which is not allowed at the Grand Ol’ Opry.
King, 34, was among the country stars performing that night and later admitted to being “hammered.”
Her Instagram post on Sunday included a video of her exercising at a concert venue.
“To everyone showing me love because I’m human and already spoke to Dolly 💅 I love you,” she wrote in the video. “To those who told me to k*ll myself, I love you too.”
In the caption, King said, “Oh no, was my human side showing 🫶❤️🫂,” and used the hashtag “#WWDD,” which likely stands for “What would Dolly do?”
After the Opry incident, King postponed several concerts and shared the rescheduled dates on her Instagram Story.
She informed fans that their tickets would be valid for the new dates and offered refunds for those who couldn’t make it. She ended with, “See you there!”
Dolly Parton defended King in an interview with Extra, asking for forgiveness for her actions.
King made a comeback earlier this month at the Extra Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona, her first performance since the January incident.
The Grand Ole Opry issued an apology on social media for the incident, expressing regret for the language used during King’s performance.
King also faced difficulties during her New Year’s Eve Live performance in Nashville, where she seemed to struggle with her words before singing her song “Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home).”
