Egyptian and Israeli leaders send condolences for Carter, who brokered their peace treaty

Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Premier Menachem Begin embraced after signing a peace agreement in 1978, brokered by U.S. President Jimmy Carter. The Camp David accords led to a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, making Egypt the first Arab country to recognize Israel. Carter’s efforts in forging this peace deal were praised by current leaders of Egypt and Israel for his commitment to global peace.
