Earthquake shakes Los Angeles area, ‘millions’ notified in advance, governor’s office says

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Malibu, California, shaking the Los Angeles area on Thursday morning, with a 2.8 magnitude aftershock occurring two minutes later and a 3.4 magnitude tremor recorded 12 minutes after. The Earthquake Early Warning System in California gave advanced notice to millions of residents, according to Governor Gavin Newsom’s office.
