The Green Party initially pushed for a €560 payment but settled on €420 in budget negotiations, which will be implemented from January 1 on a permanent basis. This payment, combined with other Budget measures such as increases in maternity and paternity benefit, as well as father’s parent’s benefit, will result in parents of newborn children receiving up to €835 in the first six months of the baby’s life.
