DWP update on changes to PIP assessments as new process applies ‘to all cases’

PIP claimants undergo assessments to determine their level of need for Personal Independence Payment. Less than 5% of assessments are currently done in person, but the DWP is working to increase face-to-face assessments by Autumn 2025 through new Functional Assessment Services contracts. Eligibility for PIP requires a long-term health condition, with payment rates varying based on the level of support needed.
