Japan’s Doun Kisen has expanded its bulk carrier orderbook in China by ordering four newbuilds from Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, including two kamsarmax and two ultramax vessels. The 82,000 dwt and 63,500 dwt units, costing around $37.3m and $35.3m, are set for delivery in 2027, adding to the company’s existing orders at the same yard. Doun Kisen, with around 140 ships and an average fleet age of six years, continues to strengthen its fleet with these new additions.
