Ronald “Roe” Messner, a prominent church builder, constructed his first church, the Douglas Avenue Assembly of God in Wichita, at age 22 and went on to design and build over 1,700 churches, including the notable Carpenter’s Home Church in Florida. Despite facing personal and professional challenges, including bankruptcy linked to the Bakkers’ PTL ministry and a prison sentence for bankruptcy fraud, Messner maintained his faith and rebuilt his business. He passed away at 89, survived by family, and was remembered as a trailblazer in church construction.
