Walt Disney famously said that Disneyland will never be completed. He was right.
The Anaheim City Council approved Disneyland resort’s $1.9-billion expansion plan, continuing the legacy of investments made by the media giant at the 100-acre facility known as the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
Disneyland started as a concept inspired by Disney’s visit to Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Since opening on July 17, 1955, the resort has grown and evolved with new attractions and worlds based on Disney franchises.
Over the years, Disneyland has undergone transformations, such as the change from Bear Country to Critter Country and the upcoming reimagining of Splash Mountain as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Additional expansions like California Adventure, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Avengers Campus have further enriched the Disneyland experience, offering new rides, shops, and immersive environments for guests to enjoy.
Disneyland continues to evolve and expand, remaining true to Walt Disney’s vision of a place that will never be completed.
