Former child star Rose Marie, of “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” would have turned 100 on Aug. 15. Dick Van Dyke revealed that the show faced cancellation due to fierce competition from Perry Como. Executive producer Sheldon Leonard saved the show by convincing the network to continue airing it. Van Dyke also praised Carl Reiner, the show’s creator, as one of his heroes. Reiner passed away in June 2020 at the age of 98.
