Diabetes drugs offer new hope for Aussies with dementia

Newer diabetes medications, including Ozempic, are showing promise in lowering the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias in Australians. A US study found that drugs like GLP-1RAs and SGLT2is were linked to a lower risk of developing these diseases in people with type-2 diabetes. While further research is needed to confirm these findings, these medications have been shown to reduce inflammation and improve insulin signaling in the brain.
