Police Operation in Derby Reduces Crime

A targeted police operation in Derby focusing on caravan parks and short-stay accommodations has led to a significant drop in crime, with only one burglary and no vehicle thefts reported during the high-tourism season from April to October 2024. The operation, supported by local authorities and accommodation providers, achieved a 95% decrease in burglary and 88% in vehicle theft compared to 2023. Daily patrols, CCTV, and drone surveillance were key strategies employed. Officer Sen. Sgt Nathan Smith emphasized the community’s role in enhancing safety and encouraged personal responsibility for belongings.
