Deputy Liberal leader Ted O’Brien has urged Angus Taylor to resign from the frontbench if he is considering a leadership challenge against Sussan Ley, whose position remains uncertain as the parliament reconvenes. Although speculation about a challenge from the right faction is subsiding, Taylor is seen as a potential candidate after fellow MP Andrew Hastie withdrew from the race. O’Brien expressed his belief that Taylor currently supports Ley, as he has not stepped down from shadow cabinet. Meanwhile, the Nationals will address a spill motion against their leader David Littleproud, but the Liberals are not expected to pursue a similar move this week.
