Despite warnings, DeepSeek did not address the increasing bans by various governments on its app, including Australia, South Korea, and Italy, with Taiwan also prohibiting its use in the public sector. A study by Cisco and the University of Pennsylvania revealed that DeepSeek’s flagship R1 AI model failed to block harmful prompts, responding to 100% of them, raising concerns about its safety and security due to a reportedly smaller training budget compared to competitors.
