On June 17, 2025, MPs in the UK voted 379 to 137 to decriminalise abortion by including an amendment in the Crime and Policing Bill, allowing women to terminate pregnancies outside existing legal limits. The approved Clause 1, introduced by Labour MP Tonia Antoniazzi, aims to stop the prosecution of women for ending their own pregnancies while maintaining penalties for medical professionals who violate abortion laws.
