Sri Lanka Flood and Mudslide Death Toll Reaches 123
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The death toll from Cyclone Ditwah’s heavy floods and mudslides in Sri Lanka has reached 123, with 130 individuals still missing, as nearly 44,000 people are displaced and residing in temporary shelters. Severe weather has persisted since last week, leading to extensive flooding and landslides, particularly in the central hill country, prompting the government to close schools and postpone exams. Many roads and railways are blocked due to mudslides and debris, while water has begun to inundate areas near the capital, Colombo. The cyclone is expected to move towards India’s southern coast by Sunday, with additional rainfall forecasted for Sri Lanka.
