U.S. and Russian figure skaters are among the victims of the D.C.-area plane crash

Elite figure skaters Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, who were coaching at a training club in Boston, were on board American Eagle Flight 5342 that crashed after colliding with a military helicopter near Washington, D.C. The flight was carrying skaters, coaches, and family members returning from the 2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita. Authorities confirmed there were no survivors among the 60 passengers on board. The skating community mourns the loss of these individuals who were part of a close-knit group.
