The power needs of artificial intelligence and cloud computing are growing rapidly, with data center campuses projected to use more electricity than some cities and even entire U.S. states. As these facilities house servers critical to the economy, the demand for power to drive them is becoming increasingly challenging, requiring gigawatts of electricity. To meet these needs, developers are turning to natural gas in addition to renewable energy sources, while expanding into new markets outside of the traditional hub in Virginia to secure land and power resources for data center development across the U.S.
