A wealthy Florida family, a pair of hit men, and a law professor, Daniel Markel, were embroiled in a murder plot stemming from a bitter custody dispute; Markel was killed in his home in 2014. Over the years, multiple defendants, including hit men Luis Rivera and Sigfredo Garcia, have been convicted, while Wendi Adelson, Markel’s ex-wife, who allegedly sought revenge due to custody issues, has never been charged.
