Dani Alves, former Barcelona player, had his sexual assault conviction overturned by a Spanish court, citing “insufficient evidence” to prove guilt. The court highlighted discrepancies in the plaintiff’s testimony and video evidence, leading to the unanimous decision to reverse the 4 ½ year prison sentence. Alves, a highly decorated footballer, was released on bail after spending over a year in jail and had his contract with Liga MX club Pumas terminated following the ruling.
