Damaged Russian ships spilled an estimated 3,700 tons of oil in Kerch Strait, state media says

An estimated 3,700 tons of low-grade fuel oil spilled into the Kerch Strait following damage to two Russian ships, the Volgoneft 239 and Volgoneft 212, during stormy weather. The spill has not yet reached the shore, with one sailor reported dead and another ship left damaged and adrift. Greenpeace Ukraine expressed concern over the environmental impact of the spill in the important global shipping route, calling for additional sanctions on Russian tankers.
