India celebrates sending its first astronaut into space after 41 years

Jubilant celebrations erupted in India following the successful launch of the Axiom-4 mission, which includes Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the second Indian to travel to space. The mission, led by former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, will see the crew conduct 60 scientific experiments aboard the ISS, with Shukla aiming to become the first Indian to visit NASA’s orbiting laboratory.
