Transgender Women in Women’s Football
The Football Association (FA) announced that, effective 1 June, transgender women will no longer be allowed to participate in women’s football in England, following a change in policy on 11 April which set stricter eligibility criteria. This decision comes after the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on 15 April, establishing that the legal definition of a woman is based on biological sex, leading the FA to permit only those born biologically female to play. The FA emphasized its commitment to reviewing policies in light of legal, scientific, or operational changes in grassroots football.
