Police in Ecuador have recaptured drug lord Adolfo Macías Villamar, known as “Fito,” the leader of the Los Choneros gang, who is linked to high murder rates and the assassination of politician Fernando Villavicencio. After being found in an underground bunker in Manta, he was transferred to a maximum-security prison, with President Noboa indicating plans for his extradition to the U.S. for cocaine smuggling charges.
