The BBC has implemented a paywall for users in the United States, requiring a subscription of $49.99 annually or $8.99 monthly for access to most news stories and streaming services. Non-subscribers can still access ad-supported global news, BBC Radio 4, the World Service, and some podcasts, with BBC Studios CEO Rebecca Glashow calling it a “major milestone” for growth.
