Steve Cropper of Booker T and the MGs dies at 84

Steve Cropper, the legendary guitarist of Booker T and the MGs, has passed away at 84 in Nashville. He was known for his contributions to iconic tracks like Otis Redding’s “Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay” and Wilson Pickett’s “In the Midnight Hour.” Booker T and the MGs, celebrated as a top soul music backing band, were the house band for Stax Records, famous for their hit “Green Onions.” Cropper also performed with The Blues Brothers, contributing to their cover of “Soul Man.”
