Briton among dead in New Orleans vehicle attack

A British national, Edward Pettifer, 31, of Chelsea, London, was among the 14 people killed in the New Orleans vehicle attack on New Year’s Day, confirmed by the Metropolitan Police. The attack, carried out by a 42-year-old Texas resident and US Army veteran, involved a pick-up truck ploughing through crowds on Bourbon Street before the suspect was shot dead by police. The FBI found an Islamic State group flag inside the vehicle and two improvised explosive devices nearby, with more than a dozen people remaining hospitalized from the attack.
