OTTAWA — Canada’s Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) awarded a $1.2 billion management contract for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories to Nuclear Laboratory Partners of Canada Inc., primarily composed of U.S.-based firms. Critics, including former government officials, express concern over the decision amid heightened scrutiny of Canada-U.S. relations and question the lack of Canadian expertise in managing sensitive nuclear technologies.
