Nine skiers’ bodies recovered after US avalanche
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Crews have recovered the bodies of nine backcountry skiers killed in a California avalanche last week, including six experienced women skiers and three professional guides. Recovery efforts resumed on Saturday after being delayed due to heavy snow and avalanche risks, following the deadly incident at Castle Peak near Lake Tahoe. Six others from the group survived the avalanche, marking this as the deadliest in the U.S. since 1981. Officials employed water to break up the snow in the area to mitigate further avalanche risks during recovery.
