Watchdog to review police handling of Al Fayed abuse claims

The police watchdog, IOPC, is reviewing how the Metropolitan Police handled sexual abuse allegations against former Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, with over 70 women coming forward with accounts of abuse including harassment, assault, and rape. Following a documentary and numerous complaints, the Met is investigating abuse claims, settlements are being made, and allegations of abuse at Fulham FC and the Ritz Hotel Paris have surfaced. The IOPC has received referrals from the Met and will assess the information provided before taking further action.
