The Crime and Policing Bill, part of the government’s “Safer Streets mission”, aims to target anti-social behaviour by giving police new powers to search homes for stolen mobile phones without a warrant. The bill also includes measures such as Respect Orders, scrapping laws on shoplifting, introducing new offences, and recruiting additional neighbourhood officers. However, questions remain over police funding and whether the proposed measures will be effective in tackling crime.
