US defence officials confirm acceptance of Qatari plane for Air Force One

The US has accepted a $400 million Boeing 747 from Qatar as a gift for the Air Force One fleet, sparking criticism, including from President Trump’s supporters. The plane will undergo modifications to meet security standards before being used, and Trump has defended the legality of the transfer despite the Emoluments Clause, stating it is a gift to the defense department, not personally to him. The current Air Force One fleet consists of older 747-200 jets, while new 747-8s from Boeing are expected to be delayed for another two to three years.
