The Coral Adventurer, a cruise ship under investigation for leaving a passenger behind in October, ran aground on a coral reef off Papua New Guinea with approximately 120 people onboard. As of December 30, 2025, around 80 passengers were being flown back to Australia after efforts to refloat the vessel failed. All passengers and crew are reported safe, and an initial inspection showed no damage to the ship. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has been informed, and the incident follows a previous tragedy involving a passenger’s death on Lizard Island.
