A south-easterly change is bringing cooler temperatures of 5-7 degrees to south-east Queensland after a week of wild weather, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. The cool change follows destructive storms and a heatwave, with the potential for Queensland’s first cyclone of the year named Taliah to form in the Coral Sea. In Western Australia, severe to extreme heatwave conditions are expected, while a severe storm with wind gusts above 100km/h hit the Pilbara region.
