Yechury, 72, passed away at AIIMS in Delhi after a two-week battle with acute respiratory tract infection. Admitted on August 19 for pneumonia-like chest infection, he died at 3.05 pm today, with his body donated to AIIMS for teaching and research purposes. The body will undergo embalming at AIIMS and be kept in the mortuary for further processing.
