Commonwealth scrambles to fix duplicate-transaction glitch after mass customer outcry

Commonwealth Bank (CBA) resolved a glitch causing duplicate transactions for some customers, leading to financial hardship and outcry on social media. The bank stated that the process to reverse transactions has been completed, any fees charged will be refunded, and support is available for those in financial difficulty. CBA also faced penalties for breaching anti-spam laws by sending marketing emails without unsubscribe options, resulting in a $7.5 million fine.
