Research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine indicates that longer walking bouts of 15 minutes or more significantly lower risks of heart disease and death compared to shorter walks, particularly benefiting previously sedentary adults. This study analyzed the daily activity of 33,560 adults and found that longer walking durations are more beneficial for health outcomes than the widely promoted goal of 10,000 steps a day.
