Following a clash over deported migrants, the White House claimed victory in a showdown with Colombia, threatening tariffs and other sanctions. President Donald Trump ordered visa restrictions, tariffs on Colombian goods, and other measures in response to Petro’s rejection of two deportation flights. After negotiations, Colombia agreed to accept all deportees from the U.S., and the conflict was considered resolved. Visa restrictions on Colombian officials remain in place.
