Nepali Sherpa Kami Rita, known as “Everest Man,” has set a new record by summiting Mount Everest for the 31st time, surpassing his own previous record. At 55 years old, he reached the peak while guiding Indian army officials, continuing a nearly annual tradition since his first ascent in 1994. His achievement comes amid rising concerns over Everest overcrowding, with over 500 climbers summiting this season, as Nepal issued more than 1,000 climbing permits; environmental rules have been implemented to mitigate the impact of increased climbers.
