Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Russian Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defence Forces, was killed in an explosion in Moscow when a device hidden in a scooter was detonated. His assistant was also killed in the attack. Kirillov had been accused of overseeing the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine and was recently charged by Ukraine’s secret service.
