Irish Farmers’ Association president Francie Gorman has stated that farmers will resist any attempt to compulsorily purchase private land along the Cliffs of Moher walking trail. A draft report suggested using compulsory purchase orders to buy out 36 landowners along the trail due to safety concerns, causing upset among landowners. Clare County Council has acknowledged the concerns and expressed a commitment to working with local landowners to ensure the trail remains open.
