The research, involving almost 10,000 participants in their 70s over six years, showed that those with the highest fluctuations had a 60% higher risk of dementia. While the study did not prove a direct cause-and-effect relationship, it suggested that cholesterol variability could potentially impact brain function and serve as an early indicator of dementia risk.
