Chinese social media platforms roll out labels for AI-generated material

Major Chinese social media platforms, including WeChat, Douyin, and Weibo, have begun implementing labels for AI-generated content in compliance with a new law effective Monday, requiring users to label such content proactively and report unlabelled instances. This regulation, drafted by four agencies including the Cyberspace Administration of China, aims to manage the surge of generative AI content and enhance transparency regarding the authenticity of online material.
